Ducks in Distress at Gig Harbor
Gina Pricco and I mostly walked the 90 minute race. We covered 5.5 miles: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2850530
We lost 30 points due to being late.
We initially developed a plan together, but we were each operating under different misconceptions: Gina planned as though it were a 3 hour race, and I planned thinking that we were going to run, not walk. So we ended up with a more ambitious plan than we had time for. We started out jogging but Gina wasn't feeling up to it, so we switched to walking while revising our plan. We did 46 35 13 24 11 26 37 48 44 45. We inserted 48 at the last minute, choosing to go there instead of to 26 and 14. However if we'd stuck with the 26/14 plan, we could better have monitored our progress and avoided being late.
We scored 430 which was good enough for second place in the women's category.
We had interesting conversation about Gina's marriage proposal at the South Lake Union Street Scramble, our respective careers, home ownership, and Catholicism.
